Weekly Food Menu
It Takes a Village Daycare Society menus have been reviewed by a Public Health Nutritionist from Public Health Services, Capital Health, and follow the Canada Food Guide for Children. Our menu plans run on four week/ 5 days a week- rotation and include a wide variety of foods. We provide a morning and afternoon snack that each includes foods from at least two food groups, and a full course lunch including all recommended food groups. Every snack/meal is cooked and prepared on- site kitchen by our cook (4-week foodΒ )
** It Takes A Village Daycare Society holds a Food Establishment Permit and can only purchase or receive donations of food or beverages in accordance with the Department of Agriculture Food Safety Regulations.

Meal Plans
At our center, every meal is planned to provide a balanced blend of nutrients, color, and fun. Children are introduced to a wide variety of healthy foods that support physical growth, brain development, and lifelong healthy habits.
Whole grains and lean proteins provide the lasting fuel children need for play and focus. Meals include items like pita, hummus, rice, cheese, and eggs, all prepared with care to support healthy growth and learning.

Fresh fruits are offered daily to give children natural energy and important vitamins. From juicy oranges and apples to seasonal berries, our rotating fruit options help build strong immune systems and healthy eating habits.
Our lunches and snacks include colorful vegetables prepared in child-friendly ways, from crunchy cucumber sticks to steamed broccoli florets. Each meal encourages children to explore new tastes and textures while getting plenty of fiber and nutrients.
