About Us
It Takes a Village Daycare Society is a nonprofit childcare center licensed by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. Our center provides high-quality childcare services dedicated to nurturing and educating young children since 2011. We offer inclusive care for all ages!
74 infant to preschool spaces at our Clayton Park location and 78 toddler and preschool spaces at Hammonds Plains.
Land Acknowledgement
It Takes A Village acknowledges that the land we share is the unceded traditional territory of the Mi'kmaq Nation. Through a series of historic and significant Peace and Friendship Treaties signed between the Mi'kmaq and the Crown since 1725, a special relationship was formed. We offer our respect to the Mi'kmaq people, who havestewarded this land since time in memorial – past, present, and for generations to come. We recognize the shared responsibility that comes with these treaties: We are all Treaty People.
Philosophy Statement
It Takes A Village Daycare Society believes that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is our desire as ECE professionals to help children meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas.
There are three elements that we believe are conducive to establishing such an environment,
(1) the teacher acting as a guide,
(2) allowing the child's natural curiosity to direct his/her
learning, and
(3) promoting respect for all things and all people.
